Just a thought #9: Human Nature

The term ‘human nature’ is use to define how we act or re-act to situations and whether our reactions are characterized as just ’human nature’ to be the way we are.

"We do not know what our nature permits us to be." – Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Emile

...Human nature refers to the distinguishing characteristics, including ways of thinking, feeling and acting, thathumans tend to have naturally.

The concept of nature as a standard by which to make judgments was a basic presupposition in Greek philosophy. Specifically, "almost all" classical philosophers accepted that a good human life is a life in accordance with nature...

As the above extract from Wikipedia illustrates this originated from a meaning that we should act how nature would react or with nature in mind and hence it becomes –‘human nature’. Unfortunately these days nature is far from our everyday minds in theory and literal vision. We have learnt to live without nature or at least with out the guidance from nature however are still dependent on nature for that which it provides and allocates. I feel that we as humans need to bring the ‘human nature’ philosophy back into direct action and the meaning it was more than likely intended. Let us act with more than just ourselves in mind. Let us truly be HUMAN NATURE!
